I'll be a good sport and start dissecting the album myself ;D
Generally speaking, I love the entire album. The music, the production, the atmosphere is of very high quality and really seems to form a hybrid of grandeur.
However, I do have some songs I usually skip and these are 'The Birth Of...' and 'Missing You', and to a lesser extent 'Broken Wings'. 'The Birth Of...' is the 3-minute intro to 'Queen of Light', but I usually can't wait this long. 'Missing You' and 'Broken Wings'... even though the lyrics are touching, I'm not really a fan of low-tempo songs (never have been) so I stop playing the album after 'The Calling' is done most of the time. This is really just my taste in music swinging along, I'm more of an up-tempo addict.
The rest of the songs I like for a number of reasons ranging from composition (e.g. 'Facing Reality') to solo sections (e.g. 'Raped by the Devil') and swingability (e.g. 'Braveheart').
'Fata Morgana' always cracks me up when I hear Helena's rolling r in the "snakes are leading me through the deserrrrrrrrrt"-part.
I also find the grunting part in 'Norway' very original. Who on earth grunts such happy and uplifting lyrics in such an evil voice? Hilarious! However, this song is really catchy despite it being entirely sung in Norwegian and I think it serves as great publicity for Norway itself. Future Norsk anthem perhaps?
Then there is 'The Calling'. Of course I'm going to say something about this song. I was already surprised to hear 'Crazy' Michaelsen on the Angel cd-single (song: 'Darkness') showcasing her best Nina Hagen/Kate Bush impression, and my oh my, this song is even better than that. I can understand why she chose to use these particular vocals when looking at the lyrics; that's really some heavy shit you had going on back then, Helena. Yes, this self-reflective song may come across as absolute mayhem at the first listen, but try and listen to the lyrics and it all makes sense. Really well done (also musically).
Yet, there is only one outstanding song on this album for my and that is 'Abyssum'. The lyrics, the atmosphere, the orchestra, the choir parts... Absolutely fantastic. The choir parts especially are superb; Helena does them all according to the booklet. That really high note in the first choir section ("on my way to freedom") gives me the chills, what a range! I also love the lyrics and how they are interpreted vocally; really dramatic. If I ever die, I want this song to be played as loud as possible. Seriously, I LOVE this song. And now you all know why I chose to call this forum 'Abyssum'.

the songs are skip are 'The Birth Of...' and 'Missing You' too. i don't mind ballads and even though they both are nice songs i tent to press next when they're on.
as of my favourites on the Queen of Light album i'd say i don't really have one, i find all that all of the songs are worth listening to and they're all v good. for me none of them stands out they're all just very good songs. 'The Calling' is a grand song, Braveheart is wonderful and Broken Wings is beautiful song but i do have to say i like them all almost equal. now is that not a grand album if you feel like that?

It seems we have a lot in common considering the skip moments of this album. I'm not exactly drooling over The Birth Of and Missing You as well.
My favs - which are also on my iPod - are Mirror and Queen of Light. For the latter, I especially like the use of her voice when she's doing the 'Queeeeee of Light'-lines.
