I'd like to draw your attention to this very nice application called last.fm. Last.fm is a plugin for your media players (it supports a wide range of those), which keeps track of the songs you play on a special profile page on their website (note: you do have to register to do so, which is free). I find this program very useful on my eternal quest to finding the most obscure but sexy bands. Last.fm offers a standalone player with the download, which you can use to discover new artist similar to your tastes. You can just enter your favorite artist or genre, click play and the player starts presenting you full (!) songs of artists that have been tagged similar to your entered data. By the way, you can also test this feature on the website itself. This is really helpful when you're trying to broaden your musical horizon. The program/website is very similar to Pandora, but since the developers of that site decided no one outside the US can use their services, last.fm offers a really good alternative.
