The Art of Pimping Your Forum Appearance
Proboards does not allow uploading pics to their own servers, so you will need to find a way to upload your images somewhere else. Photobucket is highly recommended as this currently offers the highest bandwidth. Creating your own web album on PB's site is free and very easily done.
Avatars may not be larger than 100x100 pixels so please make sure your avatar image does not exceed size.
Signatures may not be larger than 500x150/200pixels (even if you have multiple pictures in there, 500x150/200 is all pics included) to avoid long loading times and unnecessary page stretching.
Once you've uploaded the pictures into your PhotoBucket account you will see the image on the page there with a list of four links beneath it. For the avatar, you will need the 'Direct Link' url; for the signature, you will need the 'IMG code' url.
To put the images into your forum profile, go to the top of the forum page where you see the links for 'home,' 'help,' 'search,' etc. Click the 'profile' icon in that list. You will now be taken to your general forum profile with all your info as is. Click 'Modify Profile' and the editing page will appear. You can now start to change your profile.
To change your avatar, scroll a bit down to the 'Personal Information' section. You will see a field called 'Avatar URL'; this is where you paste the code from your Photobucket account that matches your avatar image there. Fill '100' in the 'Avatar Width' and 'Avatar Height' fields.
The signature field can also be found in the 'Personal Information' section. Here you can paste the IMG code from your Photobucket that matches your signature image there. Advisable is to keep the filename of your signature image as short as possible because the maximum number of characters in your signature is currently 400 (and that includes spaces).
Be sure to scroll back to the top of the editing page to fill in your password (already filled in + an empty field which says 'Password (again)'); this is needed to verify the changes you've made. Once you've done that, scroll back down and click 'Modify Profile'.
If you want your signature image to link to a website outside of the forum, then make sure it looks like this in the signature field:
[*url=http://yourlink.com][*img]Signature pic link[*/img][*/url]
(minus the *)
To put your signature image in the middle of the page (like mine), then make sure it looks like this in the signature field:
[*center][*img]Signature pic link[*/img][*/center]
(minus the *)
